As Melbourne farewells another flurry of summer fashions, we are treated to a revealing of what the next season has in store for us. Each year the city is taken over by local, established, and emerging artists showcasing their collections and ideas on the future of fashion at the highly-anticipated PayPal Melbourne Fashion Festival. Melbourne’s historic buildings come alive with industry creatives, fashion fanatics, and curious members of the public, all supporting the invaluable arts and culture of this industry.
In an exciting landmark for the label, VICETA WANG proudly participated in PayPal Melbourne Fashion Festival’s Fashion Culture Program for the first time. The Fashion Culture Program features a bespoke selection of diverse events unique to the festival. In an afternoon of intimate and immersive design, ‘Couture High Tea’ was set against the backdrop of the iconic city skyline and Yarra river at the opulent The Langham Hotel.
Held on International Women’s Day, a poetic coincidence, guests were ushered into a lavishly set dining hall for an exclusive curated viewing of the Infinity collection. The beloved guest speaker, Todd Anthony, addressed Viceta Wang followers in a blue embellished suit jacket, echoing the electrifying hues of Neptune. Esteemed influencer, Jamie Azzopardi, graced the event in a stunning Viceta Wang pink outfit glittering with sequins and pleating power. As handcrafted tea and pastries were served, models circled captivated participants, leading them through a cosmic narrative of creativity.
Viceta’s latest collection incited intrigue and applause, bursting with contemporary suiting, textured cashmere, playful structured forms, and unconventional materials. The autumn/winter collection, Infinity, takes inspiration from the beautiful unknown and mystery surrounding our galaxy, the Milky Way. When we look to the night sky, the constellations connect us to the cosmos and planets. Poetically capturing this sentiment, many of the collection's materials represent the star studded skies using crystal embellishments, reflective fabrics, and metallic threading.
Synchronised with the rhythm of the entire universe, this season’s colour palette was heavily influenced by the fiery sun, the planets, such as Saturn and Neptune, and the multicoloured Milky Way.
Opening with our radiant power source in bright orange, guests were taken on a colour palette journey depicting the Sun, our star-studded skies, the cool blues of Neptune, and finishing the vibrant cosmos escapade with the Milky Way in hues of blues, deep purples, and striking pinks.
The successful showcase of contemporary courageousness only heightens the anticipation of Viceta’s official A/W23 runway showcase, set to launch the entirety of the collection on the 30th of March.
