VICETA WANG introduces a timeless winter companion in the form of the camel coat, crafted from one of nature’s rarest and most comforting fibres.

In the remote steppes of inner Mongolia, where the air thins and temperatures rise and fall in dramatic contrast between day and night, the Bactrian camel has learned the art of adaptation. Its coat—thick, resilient, and humbling in its purpose—has quietly endured centuries of harsh winters. Beneath the rugged exterior of this noble animal lies something unexpected: a soft, downy undercoat known as “soft gold” by those who understand its worth.
It is from this undercoat, hand-harvested just once a year during the natural moulting season, that VICETA WANG begins the story of its camel coat collection.
A FIBRE BORN OF NATURE AND CRAFT
As spring arrives and camels begin to shed their winter coats, skilled herders begin the patient work of hand-combing the prized undercoat. It is a delicate, human process—requiring precision and care. At least three artisans are needed to hand-sort and separate the ultra-soft fibres from the coarse outer hair. From each camel, only 2–3 kilograms of raw fibre can be gathered—and of that, merely 300 grams is deemed worthy enough for export-quality garments.
The rarity of this fibre is not measured by price alone, but by the effort and tradition that protect its integrity. It is nature’s gift—carefully gathered without harm, following the animal’s own natural rhythms.
THE TOUCH OF SOFT GOLD
The result is a textile that seems to contradict itself: featherlight yet powerful in warmth, soft to the hand yet unyielding in resilience. Camel wool’s hollow fibre structure traps more air than traditional materials—giving it 1.5 times the warmth of cashmere, without sacrificing its breathability. Its structure is durable, resistant to pilling, and surprisingly resilient—an ideal companion through the seasons of life.
The texture is quietly indulgent, soft and non-abrasive, comparable to the finest cashmere but with an enduring strength. And unlike many modern textiles, camel wool adjusts to the body's needs—offering warmth without overheating, comfort without compromise. It is also naturally hypoallergenic, adding another layer of thoughtful design to its everyday use.

A PALETTE DRAWN FROM THE EARTH
Each coat in the VICETA WANG collection is an homage to the natural tones of the camel itself. From creamy White Camel—sourced only from the rare white Bactrian camels, which account for just 7% of their species—to the warm richness of Classic Camel and Caramel Brown, the colours tell a story of unaltered beauty. Wine Red and Charcoal Black round out the collection for those drawn to a bolder or more minimalist expression.
White camel wool remains the rarest of all—sourced from just 10,000 animals worldwide. For connoisseurs of true rarity, it is more than a garment; it is a symbol of exclusivity, informed by nature’s quiet forces.
CRAFTED FOR LIFETIME COMPANIONSHIP
Back in the hands of VICETA WANG’s artisans, each coat takes shape not in haste, but with precision. Our coats are sewn by hand, using a traditional seam-interlocking method solely used in luxury ateliers. This construction not only enhances the durability of each piece but ensures a silhouette that falls cleanly, with refined structure.
From cropped styles that feel modern and nimble/agile, to sweeping longlines that wrap the body in warmth, every coat is built to serve both form and function. Buttons can be customised to reflect the wearer’s personal style, while the garment itself adapts to both work and leisure with quiet confidence.
To further enhance the garment’s practicality, each coat is treated with protective technology that resists stains, dust, and moths. And tucked inside, a small token of care: a piece of natural camphor wood, offering a gentle fragrance and protection against nature’s wear.

A COAT, A PHILOSOPHY
To wear one of these coats is not merely to shield oneself from winter’s chill—it is to embrace a way of dressing that honours patience, tradition, and the subtleties of beauty found in the natural world. It is the difference between a coat and a companion. A reminder that refinement lives not in excess, but in the quiet mastery of details.
